The VFront upgrade is pretty simple, the operation consists in two steps:

  1. Filesystem upgrade
  2. Run the script VFront Update

Filesystem upgrade

Upgrading from "official" sourceforge releases

Download the latest version at http://sourceforge.net/projects/vfront/. You can overwrite the file system of the new version over the old. The configuration file (conf/conf.vfront.php) will not be overwritten, since is not included in the release, instead is generated during installation. As a precaution, you can make a backup copy of the files folder, which contains (among other things) all attachments.

Upgrading from SVN

To update from SVN just go in the VFront folder and run the usual command:

$ svn up

If you use Windows and a graphical client like Tortoise SVN, see the reference manual under Update.

Will then need to run the script VFront Update, as described below.

Run the script VFront Update

After upgrading VFront filesystem, you must run the update script. This is accessible from the administration Administration -> Administration records -> VFront Update, or directly from http://VFRONT_DOCUMENT_ROOT/admin/update.php?test (you must be authenticated as an administrator).

VFront try to run update queries on its database of rules (not yours!).

If we do not succeed, the update query to be executed will be displayed on screen. You must then run on any database with a client (such as phpMyAdmin) to update the system.
